Q6600 Upgrade

Well i've been using a power consumption calculator and it seems i should be ok.

Q6600 - 95w
7800GT - 85w
2GB DDR2 - 15w
Mobo - 25w
CPU fan - 3w
PCI Network card -4w
XFI - 7w
DVD rom - 25w
Case fan -2w
KB & mouse - 3W

Is that about right?

when you buy tell us what you went for :D

I went for:

E6600
Gigabyte P35c DS3R
GeiL 2GB DDR2 6400

= £188

My 400W Antec PSU is totally fine, not a problem thank god, and i'm using a stock fan for the E6600, which hits 42C under full load both cores, 24-28c idle.

Still going to get proper cooling then have a pop at OC'ing once i'm happy with it, and a 600WOCZ is lined up as a xmas prezzie to power my new 8800GT which is going to come once i've sold the left overs of this build (got a buyer lined up alreadu sweet)

I have recently upgraded to the same motherboard, RAM and processor as you, and have had no problems with them at all.
Same here - got a Q6600 @ 3.6 with watercooling :) Very good board and the Q6600 is very clockable :D

shame crysis will not use quad core. Oclock is essential for it to run well.
I got the same setup but with 4gb. Still tryong to work out how to get the ram timings right
