i don't know which cooler u got thier with you however i would recomend you to buy a descent cooler (probably equal to a CM V8) and beat the hell out of your CPU by Overclocking it....remember these are the few moments you spend with that "baby" before the sandybridge comes out.

The Q6600 (when OCed above 3.6 GHz) can be compared with and i5 so you got a plenty of room thier for gaming (as long as CPU is concerned).

To sum up, do not upgrade your system now (except for buying a cooler) and wait for the sandybridge to came out and then again wait for another year before you put your eyes on the the "mighty" sandybridge CPUs.

Many people would disagree with my statement but i can guarantee that my way is the most economical and intellingent way to go !

Is your Q6600 a B3 or G0 stepping. If a G0 then it should go quite a bit further than 3.15Ghz even on a Nvidia board. I would be aiming for 3.6Ghz which should be achieveable. A 470 would be a noticeable upgrade from your 8800GTX as well.

Bummer. The earlier steppings needed more volts and ran hotter than the G0. Still, i have seen them hitting 3.4Ghz so maybe you could push yours a bit further.

Nope, no 45nm quad support on 680i, and unfortunately it's one of the worst boards for clocking 65nm quads, i had the supposed quad friendly evga 680i A1 revision, couldnt clock my q6600 no matter how hard i tried, same cpu done 3.8ghz with relative ease in an asus p5q deluxe p45 board.

I bought a G0 Q6600 2nd hand and it runs at 70oC full load and I cannot get it prime stable past 3.1Ghz. It has an uprated cooler as well, I cant remember the name but the fan is 110mm.
My board is an IP35-E
(just one of the cores fails the test after 2 - 5 minutes at anything over 3.1)
