I'm a Video editor, graphics designer, Crysis and Css player so I have a need to get a Quad core.

The motherboard I'm getting is the:
Asus P5E Intel X38 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

Is this motherboard able to overclock the Q6600 to 3.6Ghz relativly easily?

(Ram is : http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-076-GL)

Personally, I want a computer that will last me for a good year, maybe two. However, I've never overclocked before in my life! I'm just wondering what is the best processor to get for my needs etc.

Thanks :D

does the programs you use for editing take advantage of the sse4 instructions on the q9450 cpu, if so wait a little while and get the q9550 when the price drop takes effect later this month

What's the latest on this ? How big are these price cuts likely to be ?

Not massive but makes a difference

Everything drops to the price below:

eg q9550 drops to q9450 price
q9450 drops to q9300 price etc.

Expected to be 12th August when new chips launch.

i cant tell you much about the Q6600 but the 9450 is a great cpu, i built a system for work recently, we use 3dstudio max and ran 2 renders with the same settings on the old machine, the first one took 25 minutes, and the next was 6 hours,

on the new machine the same two renders were 9 minutes and 54 minutes.

old pc was
AMD 5000+ @ stock + 4 gig DDR2

new was
9450 @ 3.4Ghz with 8 gig DDR2
