Q6600 vcore question...

I've just got my Q6600 to 3.6GHz, have been trying to get it prime stable but just can't seem to get it.

I've cranked up the vcore in the BIOS to about 1.53V (CPU-Z reports it as 1.52V idle and 1.488V load). Also upped the FSB and MCH voltages too. Not really sure what I'm doing though since I'm new to overclocking.

So, my questions are...

Is my vcore safe to stay at that?
Any tips on getting it Prime95 stable?

My setup is (should put this in my sig)...

GA-X38-DQ6 / Intel Core2 Q6600 / 2x2GB DDR2 800 G.Skill / 2x HD-2900 pro's / 850W Thermaltake PSU / Vista 64bit.

Also got a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme with a 120mm Fan on it.

Oh, my temps are

idle is about 25C
load is about 48C

according to Speedfan

Anybody got my setup and want to share bios settings for a prime95 stable Q6600 3.6GHz OC?

Download CoreTemp to check temps, as SpeedFan might be reporting the temps 15c lower than they actually are.

if those temps are correct, then I'd overclock some more as they are well within the CPU's limit!

for whatever reason coretemp wouldn't run in vista 64...comes up a driver error...I'll look into it some more...was a couple of weeks since I tried it.

got coretemp to work...temps are 15c higher :( lol
lets see if I can lower these temps some.

edit: (haha, just found that wee hack thanks though :))

got it down to 36C idle and 59C load...still not prime95 stable...is able to render my 3D art stuff which puts 100% load on all the cores though.
