Hi all,

Both of these CPU's are the same price (Q6600 being 'This Week Only'), and looking over some reviews they seem to be identical in performance. At least, they both beat each other on different tests.

So now I'm not sure which to buy, Quad makes it sound better, but does that really mean anything?

I'll be using it for gaming, so really whichever performs best in that department.

Anyone got any advice?

Thanks.

gurusan speaks the truth, for gaming simply go for higher clocked dual core

at the moment the best gaming chip is the E8600 but atm its not worth it (made that mistake :p) if you're willing to be patient then I'd wait for the price of the 8600 to drop.

New E0 E8400's and E8500's are due real soon (avail outside UK) if you can wait. :)

How soon? Reason for the new CPU is that Warhammer Online is due out soon (pre-order Open Beta on the 7th Sep.) so I really need a CPU to even play it.

Will these new CPU's be as cheap as the 8500?

They are showing up everywhere in the states at places like microcenter and frys, so they should be making an appearance very soon here as well :)

If it supports the E8500 then I am pretty sure it will support the E0 revision as well provided you have flashed to the latest bios.

You're right, they've already updated the CPU support list and the new E0 steppings are there. Now to wait for the 8500 to come in stock. :)

8600 is still a bit pricey, even though it's this week only deal - Reckon it's worth it over the 8500?
