Q6600 Vs PS3 Cell

For bad ports all you have to do is look at Halo on the original XBox and the way it went over to the pc, even with the best tech at the time on your pc it still ran like a dog.

I remember that sooooo well! My boss at work said how he'd got halo and how it looked awesome but ran a little slow. I saw it in action and laughed. Must've been doing 15fps and looked like cack! the funny thing was that it was running on medium settings in a rig with 1gb memory, 2.8ghz P4 and a 9800pro! So none too shabby - just a bad port combined with lazy coding.

I had an XBOX at the time and it looked awesome on that! Always made me laugh that it was a Geforce 3 GPU, 32mb ram and a P3 733mhz.

Would be interesting to see if it runs any better on a well overclocked e6600 and 1950xtx 512MB and 2 GB RAM.

Might get 30 FPS +/- 3 FPS

You also have to consider that the xbox was running on 720x576. That's less then a third the pixel count of a 1280x1024 resolution.

halo runs fine on this, no slowdown or anything 20" WS monitor, AA and AF, just turn V-sync off, cause it has it on as default, looks better than x-box version too, more eye candy, better resolution

Edit: with regards to person who said GRAW is shoddy port to PC from console, the PC version is different in a lot of ways, the tactical display is actually a high-altitude real-time view of the map (on the x-box its crappy wire-frame thing), the cross-com is better on PC as well, and i must say it looks better than the x-box version, even when your playing on an HD display

How did you get Super Pi to run natively on a Cell? Do you have one of IBM's fancy blade servers? It can't run natively on the PS3 because the Linux OS is locked out of the hardware by Sony's hypervisor.

Well I havn't done it personally but I read somewhere it has been done. Exactly where I read this I can't remember but I think it was a thread on toms hardware guide about the PS3 vs PC.
