would it be worth a upgrade from my E6600 to a Q6600 for mainly games.
all i do really is listen to music on my pc and play games every now and then.
mainly chatting on msn

ok iv just allmost awnserd my own question by thinking what i really do on my pc which is mainly msn

na but, how much performance would there be on a stock speed Q6600 over my E6600 at 3.6ghz?

thanks

oh and how well do the Q6600's clock and how much more heat do they throw out over the E6600? thanks

are these xeons just the same as the normal quad core ones?

or are they totally different cause i thaught they was built for servers

ah cool.

hmmmm im kinda tempted.

my situation is: i have 500 pounds right now saved for a R600 or what ever is the next best graphics card within 1 months time.

i might be able to get 550 pounds by then.

and if i sold my E6600 i could get my total to 620 pounds ish right now.

but - 287 (cheapest xeon) = 333 pounds or - 364 (Q6600) = 256pounds and then id not have enough for a top of the range graphics card :(

hmmmmmmmm, dno what to do.

iv had this graphics card for about 2 years now, it cant handle half the things i want it to do.

IE if i try 8x AA and super sampling on somthing low requirement like bf2 fps drops below 60.

id really want a top of the range card because i do a lot of video editing aswell, and game recording using fraps etc stuff like that.

oh and i play a lot of games like oblivion and armed assault and a 7800gtx just cant handle it at 1680x1050 resolution at 4xaa 16xa at more than 35fps.

ok thanks, i guess ill stick to my E6600 till the ddr3 and 45nm cpu's etc are available and down to the same prices as a ddr2 conroe setup is befor i upgrade :) alltho im going to get a new graphics card tho still because im coming up to the final 7 months of my life befor i have to start work so i want to enjoy it with a half decent card

btw just ran orthos last night, took a screenshot befor i went to bed it was stable at 1.425v 3.6ghz :D
