Not sure which chip would be best to go for i know the I7 (4x 2x 2.66+ GHz ) is meant to be a better chip to encode video but how much better is it really than a Q6660 (4x 2.40+ GHz) Am i going to notice a huge amount of difference? or just a couple of frames per sec?

Thanks.

going by the results in the super pi and fritz benchmark thread, the i7 at stock speed is about the same speed as the q6600 overclocked to 3.8 ghz so there will be a big difference in encoding speed.

The i7 also has 8 threads when you factor in that each of the 4 cores also has hyperthreading.

You effectively have 8 threads running at 2.66ghz on a more efficient architecture vs the q6600's 4 less efficient threads at 2.4ghz.

If money isn't a major concern then go i7.
