Q8400 vs i5?

Hi again Overclockers

I have an old ish system as per my sig so i was looking to upgrade somehow without having to spend hundreds on a whole new system...

Would anybody be able to give a rough gaming difference between changing from my E6500 to a Q8400 or a Newer i5?

I cant really make useful readings from the websites i have on the separate processors but i hoped someone may have tried all these processors out themselves and would be willing to help in any way with comments?

any upgrade to a SB i5 rig would blow your old machine far away

although if you are wanting to upgrade it would make sense to do everything important at the same time, so cpu, mobo ram, graphics

I now realise how dramatic the changes could be and i will defo change my system... its just difficult being as impatient as i am lol

probably in the next month or two i guess... there's new processors coming out from intel i understand too but cost wise... they would be expensive too wouldnt they?

I dont want to go above £400 so i will keep my case, power supply, hard drive etc and just change the board, ram, processor and cooler

Am i being impatient or should i hold out? lol
