Right, Ive just OC'd my none amazing q9300 to 3.3, fully stable on air.
My Cpu volts are set to approx 1.246 ( I'm at work dont have the numbers on me).

According to Realtemp and and core temp @ idle im on 50ish, with a difference of up to say 8 between all cores no.1 always being the lowest (error?)

@ 100% load with large Ftt or whatnot im at 68-70 degrees, seen it pop to 71-72 once or twice.
But compared to other users this s eems very high...Maybe i applied the thermal grease crappy?, Im buying a new heatsink anyway next week.

Anyone else having these temps, because even pre OC, i remember my core temps being around 50.

According to intel my max temp is 71.4, although after hours of googling i cant seem to find a straight answer, some people say 70 degress is fine, too high, and some people seem to be having temps of 80 and say its fine..I even found some screenshots of temps getting to 123 degrees, as some people say the processor will shut down before it frazzles itself.

Im not massively experienced with OC'ing, so if anyone could shed me some light, would be much appreciated.

Also Tuniq tower or CM v8/10 heatsinks ;)

I would say that they are perhaps a little high, but a new HSF and better thermal paste should help things along nicely. Get some Arctic Silver 5 as that's one of the best around and there is a very good guide on their website for applying it - some people are tempted to put too much on and that can be as bad as not having enough.

Tuniq Tower is an excellent cooler, have you considered the Noctua NH-U12P it's rated as one of the best alongside the Thermalright Ultra and the TRUE. They are all more expensive but the Noctua's fan is also one of the best available at the mo.

The temp difference you are getting on Realtemp is fairly usual, sometimes you can get a stuck sensor which will only start to read correctly when the CPU is loaded, so it would be worth doing some testing to see if the difference levels out a bit as the CPU is stressed more. If it does then it's just stuck at the lower temps and you can safely ignore it and look at the other 3 cores as 'correct'. Even if it stays at the same offset it doesn't necessarily mean it's a problem - there are loads of people here who have similar sensor readouts.

My Q9550 runs (at idle) with sensor 1 reading around 42 and the other 3 running around 35 so a difference of 7 there. But under load they are read within a degree or two.

I know some heat will partially from my broken psu, which will be upgraded to a CM m1000 next week, as its sat horizontally on a carpet under my desk.

i have the massively dusty antec 900 case, so hopefully the airflow should improve then.

Intel says 71.4 is the max temp but my computer isnt on 24/7, ya know what the maximum temp i could possibly get up to, i mostly likely will be upgrading to i7, near the fall of this year so i understand my cpu wont last an amazingly long time.

ill carry on googling but it can be such a slow process at times..
As once my new heatsink and psu come id love to try and get up to 3.6+
