Hey ya chaps, I managed to get hold of Q9400 (gave over my E6300 and 40 quid) This thing runs a lot cooler then my 6300 which I had pushed to 3.2 - My duel was running at 45C idle without a overclock but this thing runs at 36 - 37C idle!!

What sort of clock can I expect from this chip? I assume this was worth the 40 quid I paid and handing over my old duel core think it has more cache too 6mb from what I read on the chip.

Whats peoples experience with these chips?

Its a fairly good CPU.You can clock it to about 3.4-3.5Ghz easily dependig on what mobo you have. You can increase it to 3.0-3.2Ghz on stock voltage.I don't own this CPU but I had a Q8200 and if that one was able to do this I don't see why the Q9400 won't do it.Anyway you'll see a good increase in performance over your E6300.You can also read some reviews for it,just google around.

The multi holds the overclocking back a bit unless you have a great board and some fast RAM - but you should be able to get to atleast the 3.6gig ballpark before things start to get tricky... the core itself is prolly good for 4gig on the right board.
