I've managed to get my Q9450 too 3.7ghz with 1.3625 volts. Only problem is It's hitting mid 70's running small fft's in prime 95. I've got a cool it eco water cooler on it which I'm not very impressed with tbh. It idles at mid fourties in my antec 1200.

Is this too hot? I can't lower the volts if I want it stable at that speed. I think I'm gonna try changing the radiators position tomorrow.

I've used core temp and real temp to monitor temps but one thing I did noticed was when I was in my bios it was registering my cpu as ideling in the high twenties. Real temp and core temp read mid fourties. Is it likely that these are infact wrong and my cpu isn't running as hot as I think?

Your bios sensor is on your MB under the CPU and only takes one measurement, the temps in coretemp are from your CPU core temp sensors. They are calibrated using the coretemp TJmax which is set to 100. I was informed that the TJmax is actually 95 for this CPU but I have left mine on 100 as that is the Intel specified TJmax. If on the other hand you want to alter it to 95. Go to the core temp folder, open up the config txt document in notepad and alter the TJmax offset to -5 instead of 0.
also, 3.625 is a little high for the Q9450. drop it to 3.5 and see what you can hit with that! Mess around with your GTL reference. thats the key to low voltages man. TBH 3.6 is the same as my Q9550 C1 stepping so dnt look down on your CPU, thats good going man!

I am very new to overclocking. I haven't touched any other voltages, if I changed any of those would it alow me to take the vcore down abit? I don't even know what GTL reference means, nothing in the bios by that name.

I've taken the volts down to 1.35 and I'll run prime over night. I really wanted to try and get 3.8 though :)

Damn, one of the cores errored after 5 hours :(

Ok here are the options have for voltages in my bios:

CPU Vcore: 1.35 [Manual]
CPU Termination: 1.2 [Auto]
CPU PLL: 1.5 [Auto]
CPU Reference: 0.76 [Auto]
CPU Reference2: 0.8 [Auto]

MCH Core: 1.1 [Auto]
MCH Reference: 0.76 [Auto]
MCH/DRAM Reference: 0.75 [Auto]
ICH I/O: 1/5 [Auto]

Is there anything I should be changing?

I think the CPU reference is GTL reference, should I have ago upping these and seeing what happens? What is the difference between the reference and reference2? Should I up both?
