i have had my Q9450 since xmas and have tonight tryed to OC it for the first time

I have it at 3.5GHZ using 1.25V, can i go any lower on the voltage or is this a acceptable voltage for that speed?

That's grand for the speed.

ive only been running prime 95 for about half hour and my temps havent gone over 66c for the hottest core, the rest are 62-63
im i right in thinking i want to keep the temps below 70-75c?

Temps look ok, ideally you want to stay below 75'c, youre unlikely to hit temps that high in normal use.

i had a q9550 and at stock it was 40c under load, is it me or these quads run kinda hot?

got it to 3.2ghz and on load was 55c =/ cant go any further with ram and mobo i had :P

My Q9550 runs at 50c idle and nearly 65-70c under full load while clocked at 3.4GHz so your temps are much better than mine. My case is pretty hot though caused by the sound deadening.

i have my q9550 at 1.37V at 3.8ghz, it needed a massive bump to get stable from 3.6Ghz and it needs another big bump to get stable at 4Ghz...but this would be over 1.4V and i dont want it that high for a 24/7 clock.
temp wise TJmax is 100C, people quote the 72C but that is for the temp of the case diode as stated by Intel. Most Ocers dont like to see there cores go over the 70C mark under load though.
