Hi i am thinking of upgrading my Q6600 to a Q9505 as that is the best my motherboard will take as i cant be bothered with a full motherboard and ram change for an i5/i7 or really afford to

will it be worth it ?

Don't think the asus p5n-e sli supports Yorkfield 45nm Quad Cores.

EDIT: Oh weird it does seem to have the Core 2 Quad Q9505 in the support list. You will get much better overclocking than the 65nm Quads but not sure if its worth it or not depending on how far you've pushed the Q6600.

Yes it is on the support list and does work according to asus and their forums ,it is just a cut down cache on the Q9550 and is not that much slower ?

still undecided though

Avoid 45nm quads on nvidia chipset boards, theyre garbage at overclocking (pretty garbage at running stock as well in certain cases).

So not worth doing then ? but how much better a processor is it in the real world ? I might just get an i7860 now:)
or is a QX6700 worth getting ?
