As title please,
I have been playing BFBC2 and when quite out i run core temp and it says all cores are around 55-60c idle around low 40c

I am running the stock cooler that came with the CPU

Good or Bad ??

Thanks

Sounds fine, wouldn't expect much better with the stock cooler, you could try replacing the stock thermal plaste with MX3 if you want a cheap way to knock a few C off without buying a new heatsink.

ok thank you guys,
I have my after market cooler which is good and was on my old e6600 i will buy some more past and fit that back.
My old cooler is allot bigger than my Q9550 stock one

Got mine at 3.4 and it idles at 50c and goes upwards of 65c under load. Works very well though. My system is fairly quiet as have all the fans on minimum.

my q9550 temps

my q9550 is overclocked to 3.4ghz at mo and i get a idle temp of 40-45 degrees and on occt tests get a highest temp of 70 degrees i have a c.l.t domino watercooling kit running on silent. you could get less temp but it means trying to overclock on stock core voltage .

Mine ran at 3.8ghz with load temps of 54-50-46-46, think i had two stuck sensors, vid of 1.200, for 3.8ghz it needed 1.216 vcore, cooling was a pair of 400-1200 rpm pwm fans on a lapped TRUE black, idled in the high 20's - low 30's.

My "QX9650" is: (if of interest)

36
36
22
27

(minimum on CPUID Hardware monitor)

And goes up to

53
57
51
53

After testin the "windows Experience" Re-assesment:)

Clocked @ 3.8Ghz (prime stable too) with TUNIQ Tower cooling

What is it with these Huge temp gaps in Cores? (14C Differencere from Core 1 to Core 3 at idle)

My temps are similar to the Op's.

41 degrees idle but this is at 3.57GHz @ 1.337volts and the CPU fan at 50% speed at all times (ramps up when CPU reaches 60 degrees).

Load temps are 55~.

I think the key factor is not so much the speed you run it at but the volts you need to achieve it. I'm currently playing with the Q9550 in my second machine just to see what it can do and it's currently OCCT testing at 3.4Ghz at only 1.1v, which I believe is quite good? Temps are still in the 50s.

Hey guys I have a Q9550 Which idles around 51, 43, 41, 41. And under load core 0# has hit 75. This is at stock settings and when i called intel to tell them of the stupidly bad build quality of my product, they said it was normal for the Q9550 to hit these temps and pretty much to stop being a girl and call back when it hits 90C. I have re-set the heatsink, applied aftermarket thermal paste and have a new HSF on its way in the form of a geminII S. But the temps are still exactly the same. mayB 1-2 degrees difference.
Any suggestions boys? Its still under warranty for 2 yrs. Any experience with how to get an exchange from intel under these circumstances?
