anyone using this CPU as a server?

Long story so please dont ask but I have a Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 LGA775 'Yorkfield' 2.83GHz 12MB-cache (1333FSB) Processor , a micro atx case and a Asus P5E-VM HDMI Motherboard. I need to setup this up as a Win2003 server but there are no (actually weve tracked downloads but there are still some missing) drivers. anyone else have any idea on which micro ATX motherboard we could use with this CPU?

Cheers

Simon.

Which drivers are you missing? I can see no Ethernet being a problem but you should be able to live without sound etc.

You should be able to get XP drivers to work under 2003 without any bother, it might complain when installing but should work, you'd be better asking in the Windows forum I think though. Drivers for a desktop aren't really enterprise IT....

yeah but we have several items in the device manager as unknown and althought this will be a test & acceptance box and will not need any sound, I still dont like the idea of leaving any unknow.

We have tried the XP drivers and they refuse to install totaly but good idea about the windows forum Ill check in there.

thanks

Simon.

Go through the BIOS and disable any of the onboard peripherals that aren't required, that should reduce the number of unknown items.
