What would be the best and quietest cooler for keeping a overclocked Q9550 cool. I am currently using a Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro. My budget is 140 but I do not want to get into custom watercooling. I run my Q9550 at 3.4GHz..

I run mine with a H50 and 2 Noctua fans in push-pull config. Cant hear a thing with it.

May be worth looking at the H50 or the 60 when that comes out as it has a new block on it.

Actually, now i have re-read what i just posted, it is very bad england. Make sit sound like the setup i have is deafening.

What i meant to say was that i cant hear the cooling solution at work, is whisper quiet.

I am tempted to go down that route again but I had such amazing service from CoolIT last time I bought their products...I'd most definitely buy the vantage. Slight difference' like the vantage adjusting the speed of the fans based on the temperature of the coolant etc..

depends which case you have if the thermalright archon fits , needs 170mm from cpu socket to side panel get that.

I put a Thor Hammer passive cooler on my rig and it ran 3.8 PRIME95 temps at 70...I added a 120mm fan to it and temps came down to 60's under full Prime load for 3 hours...thor hammer cooler for 40ish quid

I got a second hand Scythe Ninja on the bay for £5.80 delivered when i sold my old rig to a friend. The Q9550 was always watercooled so needed a decent aircooler. I built it up in a case with poor airflow (Antec NSK-3480) to get the absolute worst temps and it only hit 64 degrees running Linx while clocked at 3.8Ghz (1.228v). The fan was one of Arctic Coolings excellent 120mm F12's, PWM version.

It's always worth checking the bay for a true bargain.
