Just bought a q9550, what sort of overclocks can I look to get.

If you're thoughtful, patient and well researched with a good cooler and motherboard 4ghz is achievable.

xtremesystems forum is your friend. lots of templates and advise on there. It help me to get my q9650 to 4.6Ghz for now...............

HI, I have my 9550 ruuning @3.4, prime95 all good, once I go past this, 2 cores fail prime. any ideas ?

for got to mention, I have left voltage on auto, so 3.4ghz on default is great for heat and power

Auto not so good, best to set it manually. Start out at your vid and work upwards from there.

Your nb (mch) might need adjusting as well.

I have gigabyte motherboard, ( First time in ages) so not too hot with these mobos. I normally set overclock vlt myself, I have managed to get it to 3.8 and run vantage, however prime95 seems to kill 2 cores.

Although not the same, i;m pretty sure the bios is similar so look here for good ideas, suggestions:

cheers, i know it will run @4ghz, its just refining the settings
