hi
this was my 1st oc on mp p45 mobo with a zalman cnps10x extreme fan
i oc my q9550 from 2.8 to 3.6ghz - put the voltage up to 1.32 and put the pcie upto 105 from 100 other than that everything was kept the same
it shows it like this in the bios but in windows vista x64 it shows still 2.8 and even in cpu-z and in pc wizard 2010 shows 2.8ghz?

i dont know where i have gone wrong
plz help me

also i have pics of my bios but dont know how to upload them

Why increase the pci-e, it does nothing for the cpu ?

Is speedstep on ?

Did you actually change the fsb, you haven't mentioned it ?
 
firstly i was told speed step could be the cause so i went to my bios after the oc and disabled features which lower the voltage and cpu mhz for cooler performance so this cannot be the cause. yes i change the fsb to 424 on a 8.5x multiplier- it was made to get 3.6ghz
 
Firstly you want your pcie frequency no more than 101. Also speedstep is probably on. If thats the case just use prime (or a similar program) to stress the pc and you should find your pc operating at the overclocked speed. I'd highly recommend you set your dram voltage manually as well as you really don't want to be overvolting it.
 
i put my pcie frequency back down to 100. speed step is not on i have disbaled it in bios.
also with the ram when i was oc the cpu the ram went to 1696mhz it is out of the box 1333mhz but it never showed this it always showed as 1066 in bios so i oc it to 1333mhz and now it is showing much higher?

any way i can upload pics?

yeh pics will help. You'll want to put speed step on after you've got a stable clock though. No need for 3.6GHz when web browsing, etc as it just creates more heat.

****THE PIC THAT SHOWS A RED BOX THAT SAYS THIS SYSTEM HAS EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS DO TO OC....... HAPPENED BEFORE I OC THE CPU ALL I DID WAS PUSH THE GRAPHICS CARD UP TO TURBO IT IS THE FIRST FEATURE AT THE TOP OF THE SCREEN OF THE BIOS - I DONT KNOW WHY IT SAYS THIS AS THERE HAS BEEN NO PROB WITH THE PC EXECPT FOR A FEW LOCK UPS IN CRYSIS??***********
