Hi guys

Hope you can help me with this....

I have my Q9550 oc'd to 3.8, stable, never crashes BUT

Every time i switch off or reboot it wont post to BIOS / windows (PC running but black screen), and i have to go into the bios and reselect the overclock for it to work

Current setup is the following

Asus P5q Pro
Q9550 E0
4g Kingstone Ram 5-5-5-15
4870x2 2gb

Mobo settings are

AI Overclock tuner: Manual
CPU ratio: 8.5
FSB Frequency: 450
PCI-E : 101
FSB Strap: Auto
Dram Frequency: 1081MHz
Dram Timing: Auto/ram spec

CPU Voltage: 1.24375v
CPU PLL: Auto
FSB Termination: 1.24v
Dram Voltage: 2.08v
NB: 1.26v
SB: 1.2v/auto
PCIE SATA: 1.5v/auto

Any ideas why it wont post initially but will happily let me select the overclock once bios available ?

any other suggestions for 3.8 / 4 would be appreciated

have also checked out this thread for settings - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18159678&page=4

Thanks

I get this with my Q6600 when the FSB is higher than it "likes"

similar really - it willwork perfectly - pass all benches/small prime etc etc - but then refuse to re-boot in particular soft boots

I tend tofind with my CPU the higher the FSB the more likely this is to happen (no matter the Vcore too)-so at a certain threshold it will say refuse to boot once every week or so - go even higher FSB wise and it'll get to point where it'll run all stress tests - then will not ever reboot if you try

its no CPU speed related either - ie 3.4 on a x9 multi I never have an issue, 3.4 on a x8 multi (even with much more Vcore) - I get random non-boot issues :(

I just gave up

Memory voltage seems a bit low at 2.08v, the majority of ddr2 runs at 2.1v, and your ram is running at 1081 mhz, im assuming its kingston pc8500 rated at 1066 mhz.

it is, ill up it and see

also forgot to mention it isn't temp related as it never goes over 50c under water

At 3.8ghz, i was running the following voltages.

pll, 1.54
nb, 1.26
fsb-term, 1.26
cpu vcore, 1.2100, (your cpu will differ)
Vdimm, 2.02,

my board was a p5q deluxe which were known to overvolt ram by upto +0.8v, hence i set it a bit lower, the pro is a newer board.
