Hi,

I think I suffer this issue:

http://www.avforums.com/forums/proc...dia-790i-ultra-sli-cpu-hot-advice-please.html

My story began 2-3 weeks ago when I've bought Q9550 (yes, C1 revision...). Previusly I've had 4 other s775 CPUs - two C2D and two C2Q (Q8400, Q9400). All of my CPUs I've lapped - I started with curiocity, and then... I got used to it. It's enought to say I wanted to keep all of them cool, and o-c them periodically just to see their potential in benchmarking. So - just in case, I'd say.

All of my CPUs was cooler a few degrees after lapping. I decided to lap cooler (AC Freezer Xtreme), too - to see if it gives any effect, or not. By the way, default base has not been finished very well (in comparison to Scythe Yasya, for example). Every time I mount cooler, thermal grease is being applied again - not much, and not to poor - just enough. Now I use AC5. Before I start PC, I always make sure cooler is rock-solid, so no movements to any direction.

So, my previous CPUs was quite fine, the most hot was Q8400 - RealTemp showed me 40-44 degrees. Absolute star was Q9400 with its 30-33 deggrees (in idle). Current quad suffers 50-40 degrees in idle, with huge 10 deg. difference between core #1 and #4.

Now, I've tried to check if sensors stuck - but they don't. OCCT test is fine, but CPU goes to 72-73 degrees, which makes unavailable to o'c it anymore in practice. It raises nicely to 3.612 GHz with no voltage change (Auto, software shows 1.28-1.30 V under full load, LOL), but it's all for nothing, because OCCT ends within 3-5 minutes with overheating message. Temps reached 80 deg.

AsusProbe shows "cpu temp" 10 degrees less than minimal core (#4) temp, or even less under full load.

The most strange fact is - my cooler is not hot, it's barely warm. I don't know if it was so cold before, because I've checked its temperature first time now, when my issue occured:

Of course, I can do Idle Calibration and set TJMax in RealTemp.. but would it influence the OCCT ? What is correct core's temperature for in Real Temp, if OCCT will fail ?

So my question is - what did I miss ? During a week I plan to remove both CPU and cooler and see - are they lapped fine and fit to each other perfectly..
I'm not sure about cooler cleaning - from time to time I wash whole radiator and make it dry with hairdryer (at the end radiator is so hot that it burns fingers) - do you think it might wreck heatpipes functionality somehow ?
What else can I do ?
