Are these temps reasonable? This is 1 hour into the prime small fft test.

This is with the side panel off on my case since I have yet to put all the fans in. I will end up with 3x120mm intake fans and 1x120mm + 1x140mm exhaust fans.

I would very much like to get up to say 3.8 ghz but I'm not sure my ram would be up to it. :(

Temps look fine - if your intention is to run your cpu @3.4 would recomend you try and drop the cpu voltage a bit.

My 9550 is happily running at the same speed with voltage of 1.185 (I think)as set in bios per cpu-z it's 1.168 but such always , well on my board anyway, shows less voltage than bios.

Just so i dont start a new thread:

I just set up one of these chips on a P5Q-E..

My temps are:

Core 0: 25c
Core 1: 25c
Core 2: 32c
Core 3: 38c

Why is core 3 so much hotter than the rest? Is that normal or would that be something to do with incorrect cooler installation?

Edit: Just noticed that Core 3 also seems to be getting used much more than the others...i guess that has something to do with it...anyone got any ideas?

Checked with coretemp.

Your heatspreader might not be truly flat and like you mention core 3 is getting more use.
Run prime or Orthos to check full load temps.

Seems to stay at around 40c after a while on prime on all cores so its not like it goes up to 48 or any higher than the others...

Edit: Average of 40c when running prime... is that right for a freezer 7 pro? Thats at stock speed by the way...

Thanks in advance

Guys, whilst running Prime 95 for 4 hours on an attempted overclocked Q9550 my core temps were:

101 C
99 C
98 C
96 C

CPU Voltage 1.232, Bus Speed 370

I guess this is very high - but too high even for a 'Torture Test'?

definitely its not like your even murdering the cpu with voltage.. what cpu cooler and case you got? maybe try reseated your cpu :)

That is very high, I would suspect the cpu would be throttling.
Recheck the cpu cooler and fans speeds.

Lapped CPU, reapplied thermal paste, tightened screws connecting the heatsink to the mobo and have seen a drop of 40 C :)

Cheers
