Q9550 temps

Could someone please explain how to get 9550 to run cores at a lower temp than normal ambient temp, as mine idles at 28 to 30 in a room at 21 to 22 Some are quoting 20 to 21 idle so the room tempmust be hellish cold don't think I would like to sit in front of my box in these temps!!!!!!!!!

you cant get a chip to run lower than ambient without using ice or cascade systems, but remember thats ambient in the case which can be lower than room temp with good airflow.
normal is about +5 to +15 ambient for idle depending on type of cooling/set up etc
my temps are sitting at low 30s idle but i like it warm :)

I have the case at 24-25 and the chip is always above that, if the humidity is low as in central heated houses I am sure that the case will always be higher than room temp. but if humidity is high you will get a bit of evaporative cooling taking place as in water cooled condensers and in some so called "air conditioners " but as you say it is poss. to get it lower but at a price ie howling fans, no thanks I will stay as I am with a bit of water and warmth.

Mine is set to 1.25v

CPU-Z reading fluctuates between 1.208v and 1.224v

hello mate, I'm starting out to do the same to my rig...almost identical to yours

you using the BIOS to over clock or using software?

here is my starting point which isn't too dissimilar to yours

I'm guessing that's with Speedstep enabled?

And yes I use the bios to OC.

What speed is your RAM?

is that the screen I need to show? Bit new to this overclocking stuff ;)

Before you start overclocking, be aware that your RAM speed will increase along with your FSB.

For this reason there are settings in your BIOS to effectively reduce the speed of you RAM in order to allow you to increase the FSB without overworking your RAM.

Your system isn't really much like mine at all by the way:)

What RAM do you actually have by the way? I know mine's PC2-8500 but CPUZ insists that it's PC2-6400.

I don't think you can go lower than 1:1 though.

That's a good point mine does too, except it shows that it's PC2-8500 in the timings table.
