Currently got my Q9550 Running @ 3.5Ghz on water (a 5 yr old 120.2 with 2 x Sharkoon Silent Eagle Led 1000) and after running prime for around 30 mins temps were between 55 and 60 across the 4 cores. Is this a fairly high temp considering being on wc? Using 1.2V

Also, whats considered a normal 'safe' voltage for core2 quads with water?

I was wondering too, its an E0 revision. What sort of clock speeds do you think i could get with this? Think i could see 4GHz at all? I guess i might need to use some better fans for that?

Thanks

Here is a screenshot of my Q9550 @ 4.0GHz (using 1.325v in BIOS) with Tuniq Tower 120 cooler, Prime95 after 30 mins...

4Ghz should be achieveable. Mine does at least 3.6Ghz on stock volts. Just stuck the P45 board in so have'nt really had a chance to play with it properly. Max voltage should be no more than 1.45v but ideally 1.4v and below.

I see your using an Asus P5Q Pro... I'm using a Gigabyte GA EP45 UD3P...one or two of my settings may be named differently in your BIOS...

Robust Graphics Booster - Auto
CPU Host Frequency - 333MHz
PCI Express Freq - 100
Ram running 5-5-5-15
Loadline Cal - Disabled
CPU vcore - 1.325v
CPU Termination (VTT) - 1.36v
CPU PLL - 1.570v
MCH Core (N/Bridge) - 1.200v
DRam - 2.0
CPU Enhanced Halt - Disabled

thank you very much i'll give that a try i cant get prime stable am also under water
will post back tomorrow when i give it a try

They seem a bit high for watercooling, on air at 3.6ghz i was getting this, had it upto 3.8 before i sold it.

TRUE black, lapped to 2000 grit with ,400-1200 rpm pwm fans. albeit mine was a nice lowish vid chip of 1.200, ran on an asus p5q deluxe board.

Yeah unless you have a specific reason, turn LLC on.

Im running at about 55c prime load now, 60-65c IBT load.

Think LLC may help you.

Re did my watercooling today and cleaned my case out. There was a fair bit of dust on the underneath of the radiator (sits at the botton of an old school cm stacker where the vent is).

Added my 4870 1GB to the loop now as well.

Just been running prime. Temps are 45 - 50 now across cores which seems a fair bit better especially as the 4870 is there as well. :)
