Hi all, have a Q9550 in an Asus pq5-e i have disabled spread spectrum in bios but in cpuz it says a q9550 @ 2.83 Ghz but the core speed shows up at 2051.9 with a x6 multi, i think that may mean that my cpu is running at about 2 gigs, any one have any idea?

Bye,

Ian...

Hi, thanks for the reply, i have disabled speedstep and spread spectrum ect, still showing about 2 gig.

Bye,

Ian...

Run something intensive like prime or a windowed game and then look at the speed... it should stay at 8.5 while the game is open

change your multiplyer to 8.5 manually in the bios, since disabling speedstep it might stay on 6 or summat.

Thanks for the replys, changed multi to 8.5 under cpu settings also changed it in the over clocking util still no change, hope i have not got a duff cpu, under windows in system it shows 2.83ghz but in cpuz it shows at the top 2.83 but at the bottom left it shows multi 6 and speed 2.0 ghz.

Bye,

Ian...

yeah there is defo something in the bios that you have not turned off..... it might not even be called speed step. just turn them all off in bios then see...

Thanks for reply, turned everything off that i can find in bios but still the same, ran a program that stresses cpu and cpuz did go up to its proper speed so its got to be a setting in bios but i cant find it, anyone out there with a Asus pq5-e no what i am missing?

Bye,

No worries bud :D

If you're running it at stock and not overclocking then i see no reason to disable it and speed step at all ;)
