Hi all. Ive managed to get my Q9650 to 3.6ghz and only tweaked the FSB to 1600 so its 400 x 9. But in my bios I have intel speedstep and the like disabled. Is this wise? My cpu passed IBT on standard and the max temp on any one core was 55 degrees but today is quite cool and also the side on my case is off as Ive just put this rig together. Im using an H50 as my cooler, so at the moment im happy with my clock I just want to know if I should turn the fancy bits back on in the bios or will this maybe play with my clock? Thanks all.

What mobo have you got? I recon theres no need to disable any of the 'fancy' stuff unless you run into problems. Mine does 4GHz on stock volts with speedstep and the other fancy stuff enabled.

Also dont forget to make sure you dont overclock the ram. You can lower the ram frequency if you need to

Turned all the bits of fancy off and no issues. My cpu passed IBT again and in cpuz it clocks down when idle. Result! Should I try for 3.8 or leave it be, Hmmm???
