Im stuck in two minds on which fan to get what do you recomend?

ThermalTake Golden Orb II 17dBA Cooler

Or

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler

Or

Anything else which you might think will be better?

Noise is not an issue as it will be stuck in a cupboard just looking for best performance really.

Cheers

Hi,

I do not personally know much about the ThermalTake orb so i will pass on judging that.

But can say nothing but good things about the Arctic freezer 7 pro. Had it on a Q6600 and my current Q9550. Both run in the 20's Idle.

But if i were to buy another cooler , It would probably be a high end market like the new Arctic freezer extreme etc. Only for higher oc ability. I had this Arctic 7 pro for 2 years now .... lol

I'm using the Arctic Freezer 7 Pro on my new Q9550 (not overclocked at mo) and according to Easytune 6 its idling at the moment at a cool 20C.

20C would be hard even at idle as its bellow room temp (unless your room is really cold).

Added to fact that will be the Socket Temp not the Diode Temp.

Load up latest build of CoreTemp or RealTemp. ;)

I assume that you want to push that CPU as much as possible?

If so, like many others here i would suggest getting the TRU Extreme and 2 decent after market fans (Push - Pull setup).

Mine has an Alaska AK-965, the CPU at idle is high 20s and full load for an hour it will reach 55C, at 4Ghz.

Not bad for a £12 cooler :D

I use a tuniq tower and on my Q9450 oc'd to 3.2 i have idle temp of 25 and a load temp of 40 tops so it's a good cooler if you can fit it in your case for me i had to take the side panel fan out and mount it on the outside of the case not a big thing :).

well I had the thermaltake golden orb 2 on an amd athlon 5600 x2. It was nice and quiet and had a nice blue LED (which would just waste electricity in a cupboard) but the cooling was only slightly better than the stock cooler. I've got the freezer 7 pro now and my e6420 @3.2ghz and it's keeping it nice and cool, however it a bit noisey on full RPM.
