Obtained a Q9650 today to replace what has been a very good Q6600. However i am a massive FSX fan, and every extra bit of CPU speed i can get helps.

Have got it to 4050 (450x9), and was wondering if you kind people could:

A: Please check i havent made any silly/dangerous settings (as i was tweaking some things that i dont know as much about asd i should)

B: If these settings seem reasonable, suggest any further tweaks that might help me clock this chip any higher (it all counts in FSX)

Realise the Asus P5KC could be a limiting factor here, not the worlds best board i imagine??

All settings are defaults unless stated otherwise (so probably at AUTO)

AI = MANUAL
CPU RATIO = 9.0
FSB STRAP = AUTO
FSB FREQUENCY = 450
PCIE FREQUENCY = 4101
DRAM FREQUENCY = AUTO
DRAM COMMAND RATE = AUTO
DRAM TIMING MANUAL 5-6-6-18
CPU VOLTAGE = 1.4
CPU PLL VOLTAGE = 1.5
FSB TERMINATION VOLTAGE = 1.3
DRAM VOLTAGE = 2.1
LOAD LINE CALIBRATION = ENABLED
NORTHBRIDGE VOLTAGE = 1.4
CPU GTL = 0.63
NB GTL = 0.67
CPU SPREAD SPECTRUM = DISABLED
PCIE SPREAD SPECTRUM = DISBABLED

C1E, vanderpool etc all disabled.

1.4V in bios is giving me 1.392v under load, is this too much????

Temps idle are 36-36-42-41
Temps under load are 54-49-53-54

Many thanks in advance for your help/advice

Sounds good! I dont like to go over 1.4v for everyday use. If you want to benchmark or just push your chip to see what it can do i wouldnt go above 1.5v

Does it really need 1.4v? My q9650 does 4Ghz at stock volts and so does many other peoples or slightly above.

Mine doesn't I need over 1.4 in bios, equates to 1.35 under load with OCCT.
You might be able to bring FSB term down a little.

VALDAI

2.1V is the rating on the RAM, should i not have it set that high??

Greebo, it didnt want to boot lower than 1.4v at those BIOS settings, but its very likely that i havent tweaked everything else well enough. Any suggestions for additional tweaks??

Thx
