Q9650 temperatures

Just upgraded to a q9650 and I am getting these temps are they ok? with a tuniq tower

Core 1 36 degrees
Core 2 38 degrees
Core 3 36 degrees
Core 4 37 degrees

thats all on idle...

Runs a little hotter than my e6600

Load temps matter, idle temps are meaningless.

Do you know what the best software is to test?

Prime95 does a good job, easy to use. Just make sure you have a decent monitor running at the same time to record what temps you peaked at, etc.

I use RealTemp, it's basic but does the job.

My QX9650 (Quad Extreme)

Core 1 34 degrees
Core 2 34 degrees
Core 3 22 degrees
Core 4 25 degrees

On Stock 3Ghz.

My temps are in the 50's (55 ish) when running prime, and in the 60's (64 highest core) when running prime Small fft at 3.918Ghz. I have Tuniq tower also. Wouldn't worry about those idle temps, not too bad really, though with case cover on or off can make a 3-4 degree difference

One other thing...Since I changed my cpu my main monitor goes off now and then. Say every ten minutes. Like blinking almost...

Is that anything to be nervously sweating over like a deranged dog after biscuits?

Well thats not ideal is it! - not sure about that, Is it when you don't touch the mouse/keyboard etc(power saving?) or oes it do it whilst working on pc?.

MyPrime95 temps are BTW (small FFT one test)

Core 1 47 degrees
Core 2 47 degrees
Core 3 35 degrees
Core 4 40 degrees

not 55 a i said (on stock 3Ghz) everything seem cooler since i took my GTX8800 out of my system, i now have just the one GFx card.
