Qatar Airways - Anyone got experience?

I'm heading to South Africa on a Safari in April and Lastminute.com is telling me that Qatar Airways is doing the best price at the moment. I'm curious as to why they are almost 32% cheaper than their nearest competitor, Virgin.
The reason I'm asking is that my previous trip to South Africa I flew with Iberia which..just..never again. I usually only do Virgin or BA, but Qatar is looking very cheap (£439 for a return to Cape Town). Sorry to make a post as to something so trivial, but 24 hours stuck in a metal tube getting hurled through the air warrants some questioning.

So, what's Qatar Airways like?

I used them going to thailand, i haven't got a bad thing to say about them, they were the cheapest, good in flight entertainment, comfortable and decent food. Couldn't ask for much more really so I would go with them again. (this was in 2005 mind but wouldn't imagine too much has changed)

They are ok, cheaper for various reasons, but still as good as if not better than Virgin.

There aren't many five star airlines and qatar is one of them

OT but haha, nice to know Ryanair is a 2 star airline.

I'd love them to go bust.

Hehe. They take care of all my European travel needs. I've given EasyJet enough chances, I hope THEY go bust

they are probably fantastic. out of skytrax's 5 star airlines, i've only flown with singapore, both up front and in the back and they are by far the best airline i have ever used.

so i would expect Qatar to be pretty ****ing nice

flown with Qatar airline twice to Thailand they are ACE! would fly with them again

also flown with Eithad, they are pretty good two, to be honest all of the emirate states airline lines are suberb and good value for money

Qatar are quality. Flown with them to Beijing and back (via Doha incidentally).
Nice food.
