Hey,

i'm very tempted to it the buy button on Odyssey OLED G8 G85SB, (coming from a cx48" which is too tall to read top of the screen nicely.)

1. Excluding gaming due to the different sub-pixel arrangement do you think you could read/text & code for 8 hours straight?
2. 99.9% going to buy 2 of these one above the over, (angled down) top screen for working monitoring/chats etc. do you think you could see that nicely at that angle
3. whats it like in brightroom?

I will be using this monitor for 80% WFH & 20% gaming (Work on Mac, Gaming on Windows)

I've discounted the Alienware for 2 reasons
1. noise, very noise sensitive & can hear a pin drop in my workspace
2. seems to be a lot off issues right now with firmware/HDR etc
3. i'm seeing in reviews with returns as just want to buy & be done with it.

Not had any issues with my current OLED with same workflow, which I do the same with (had this since the launch in 2021), not at all worried about burn-in as i ll swap these every few years anyway its more text clarity

Some people are more sensitive to it than others. I for example can not tell the difference between text on this monitor compared to my old IPS monitor. I only see fringing if I put my face right up to the monitor and look for it. Some people say they notice it so use alternatives to ClearType to fix it as some alternatives have updates to include this sub-pixel arrangement already. Then there are some people who outright can't stand it so won't use QD-OLED.

So yea, it's subjective and you'd need to try it to know which category you fall into
thanks,
how far away do YOU need to be not to see it?
whats it like in bright room?

I do more productivity and WFH using my AW3423DW than gaming as a reference point. It is my only monitor and used for everything.

1: Text is fine, use the BetterClearTypeTuner utility to enable RGB arrangement with a 2200 contrast. Text will be fine after that.
2: They are curved, so in my view this would not look good when stacked one above the other as you end up with a gap in the middle from the curve.
3: No problems at all in a bright room. Just like any screen with a glossy surface, avoid sitting right behind a window or strong light source. Bounced reflections aren't an issue as the AG coating does a fine job at reducing their luminosity.

Also:
1: I have sensitive hearing too and hear things most people can't, the fan is audible in a quiet room, but it's an ambient hum 90% of the time and becomes part of the room's ambience. 10% of the time is "breathes" as described in the thread previously by many people. It only lasts a few minutes.
2: The issues are related to the DWF version not the DW
3: Didn't get a word of that, translation needed :p
thanks for feedback,
was typing to fast for my brain :D

2. good point, indeed they would have to be angled at the same angle to be decent. good shout! < might be sucky
3. Yeh right opposite a very large window, which sucks one thing i hate about the CX is the full light bounce (another reason for samsung seems to have semi gloss s full gloss)

discounting Q
3. seeing lot of returns from Alienware owners, one guy on reddit has gone through 6 of them not to have issues :(

Regarding text @mrk you have a mac as well do you not? I only do productivity on mac, wondering if the Text issue is still present on OSX, not found a source for this info yet :(

I'm not sure if QD-OLED is the best option in this case. I use mine around 50/50 WFH and gaming, and while it does excel on the gaming side, it's definitely not optimal for work. A decent 4k (or 3840x1600) IPS/nano-IPS would likely be a more useable option, without any of the downsides of QD-OLED (e.g. the pixel layout and risk of burn-in). I do miss the resolution & crispness of my previous AW3821DW when working - that is all forgotten when I fire up a game, but if that was only a rare occurrence then I think I would likely have stayed with the 38".
cheers for input,
im considering the new Samsung 49' which is just OLED (5120x1440) too, which will give best of both Gaming & text clarity, i have 0 fears of burn in, been using this lg for 2 years with very much static objects with no signs of any burn in, but i do run brightness at 30% just due to how bright it is :D

wouldn't it be easier just to have text in windowed mode not full screen on the cx so you don't have to read to the top, as your going to sacrifice height anyway with the g8, so you will not be losing any real estate, personally don't have that problem with my cx.
i did consider that, & have tried that, but when your muti tasking quickly getting windows 80% height all the time is annoying although could automate that with moom it doesnt help how close i am either im literally at arms length touching the screen if i was slighty further back that would help too. hence curved would be ideal.
currently running 4K + 2x27" be nice to reduce monitors by going 2x UW oir 1x large UW
