Qestions about faulty PS3 consoles

Hi I fancy buying a few faulty ps3 consoles from ebay to have a go at fixing, more as a bit of a hobby. Just wondering, lets say one of the consoles main fault is reading disks, can you just swap a blueray drive out of another PS3? Or will that not work as it will only work with the orginal drive?

You can swap the bluray drive yes.

If you take a look on the various parts on the bay and look on google for what people do to fix Playstations you'll get a pretty good idea.
