I'm thinking of buying one of these but I have a question that I hope someone can answer.
I want to put two 500GB HDD's in there. I want one of them to act as a file server.
My question is: Is it possible for the 2nd HDD to act as a backup of the first?

Cheers in advance.

You could have them mirrored in raid. Thus if one drive failed you could simple replace it and you will still have all the information you want and no down time.

I understand that it does raid however, raid does not help if files get deleted in error or the array goes belly up. Essentially can it back itself up, or would I be better off by purchasing two single disk TS-109's and one backs-up the other? :)
