Well, here it goes again. Another pay day, another irrepressible buying urge.

My G500 developped a button squeak after an intense TF2 session. I could call Logitech ect, but the perfect excuse to try something a bit different.
- Roccat Sota.
- Qpad 5K laser mouse.

I must say, I am impressed.

- light (very light in fact).
- very glidy (on that new fancy pad).
- good build quality. Buttons and wheel feel a lot better than the Kone I used to have.
- comfortable. Now my pinky doesn't get in the way.
- very accurate and good tracking (same sensor as the Kone / G500, apparently).
- ajustable lift off. No big deal for me really.

problems :
- No fancy ligthning, I don't care. Just the wheel gets illuminated.
- Only 2 profiles. I don't care either, I never used profiles.
- No weight adjustments. I don't care, I wanted a light mouse. Never used the weights on the Kone or the G500 :)
- Not ambidextrous. Unless I loose my right hand, I don't care!
- Braided cable. Not really a problem, but like the G500 makes the cable a bit stiffer.
- Only two DPI settings. I don't care, DPI settings always to the max.
- Somehow the device settings shortcut didn't work. But the actual .exe worked. Mouse DPIs set and ready, end of.
- Not sure about the support side of things, small company and all. I was really not impressed with Roccat.

So yeah, it's looking good. Overpriced, but effective and simple. Bit like the Xai / Ikari, which would have been another option in my quest for the ultimate mouse. Love the low weight, the accuracy, the rests for the pinky and ring finger, and glides really well on the Sota.

Now to see how it's gonna stand the test of time, but quality looks good. More testing over the weekend :)

Nice mini-review :p

Costs?

I'm very much tempted by the Coolermaster Storm Inferno as I've yet to come across anything but brilliant reviews.

nope.

I don't like the Kone, due to having one before and having quality issues. I don't like Razer's either.

Love the mouse though. I really don't care not having the fancy stuff the Kone and the razer have, but I'm sure they could have 1/2 the price easily, you get more bang for bucks with a G500.

As I said, expensive. 'Qpad' Must be Swedish for 'Crack Cocaine'. But so far I love it. Nice light feel to it and tracks superb.

Fair play to you then - if you're happy with it then nothing else matters!

I'm still trying to tell myself I need to drop £28 on a mouse xD
