You press the relevant symbol on the keyboard to get the same symbol to appear on the screen.

There are other buttons too... but I don't know what they do :(

What's this 5 button?

flaws:
*media keys aren't optimized, to operate any other programme than windows media player, for the keys to actually work, you have to activate the play/pause button which launches wmp then the key's magically work with other programmes whilst wmp is open. there are no settings in drivers but probabley fixable but may take a few hours.

*windows key is auto-disabled in gamer profile. anyway to fix that as i use some macro's in windows mode.

*the LED's stay on even if computer is turned off! this decreases the lifespan of the LED's since on 24/7.

exactly the same as the tom guy in the review. 'the lug' said the tom guy failed to read the manual thus i need the manual to fix my problems :/

There isn't much in the manual except the standard features.

In the software, you can press the [?] icon to get more info. More than in the manual anyway. I haven't fiddled with the macro software much.

If you are refering to the problem Tom has with the light remaining on when the computer is off you can turn the light off with the function (Fn) button and the number two and eight on the keypad to go up and down the levels of lighting. Also I would suspect that the lights remaining on is a setting on the bios for the motherboard normal used to charge devices when the computer is off.

Tom is right overall, these features don't work completely. Infact I don't bother with the software anymore as it isn't of much use, I just use it like a normal keyboard. Map any Macro's I need to my Naga, job done.

Oliver is right though, there is nothing you are missing in the manual.

What media player are you trying to use with the keyboard that isnt working?

The gamer mode disables the Windows key because that is the point of the gamer mode.

The light stays on because of the motherboard, it was weird for me too, but then my microphone does the same, it always has a red LED on.

Weird... I have exactly the opposite result.

Lights are off by default & when I turn them on... every restart they turn off again!

I haven't even looked at the software yet and I've had the kb for ~2 months... heh

I've also found itunes to work perfectly well with the standard controls... no tweaking necessary, they just work (and the program doesn't have to be selected like with some function keys).

ok kwl.

so Tom's review is legit as i can't use windows key in gamer profile as i wish to use macro's in windows desktop (not just in games).

i fixed the media player by uninstalling the software... luckily my profiles are stored on the keyboard than the PC.

well the RED light thing is still a flaw as i owned a logitech G11 and the lights turned off with pc thus it's the keyboard fault. but theres probabley a bios setting i can dinkle with.

i just feel majority of the prof reviews mist these vital flaws which does concern me greatly for reliability of prof reviews in general. :/

fixed the LED issue: i had EuP ready turned off : this is a energy saving feature with asus so i guess disabling stopped the LED turning off normally on shutdown.

thanks guys.

I suspected as much. Mine also sometimes stay on. I guess I might as well sort it out.

The media player that pops up, could be a windows settings like, 'default media player' or something, that just gets called by the key press. I'd have a look into windows rather than the keyboard software. After all, if you have wmp, VLC, ITunes, WinAmp, which one should be prioritised? Not entirely sure, could be whichever is default player for 'mp3' files or something dumb like that.

I never bothered with media keys hence my ignorance on the subject. But I know you can bind keys in the macro software to launch applications.

Blaming a keyboard for having features, which you have configured incorrectly, which aren't as you would like.....

At least your asking for help rather than posting a review saying the keyboard has loads of flaws :D

I mean, OBVIOUSLY having a mode turned on which disables a key, is going to mean that the key is then disabled, have a problem? enable it again. If you have an issue with that disabling the macro's, either make a macro for it, or use a different keyboard.

well logitech keyboards media keys work fine out of the box like most whilst qpad's software actually messes up this setup as when i uninstall the software , the media keys work fine + they're is no manual advice on how to configure it properly.

the LED issue was my fault i think! i am pretty sure the EUP ready was disabled with my logitech keyboard so... it's technically still the keyboards fault.

i presumed the windows mode would have a profile as well but qpad made windows mode the 'default' unchangeable profile instead. you can write macro which activates the windows key but thats it, you can't programme the key to be held down so shortcuts like win+D won't work. i've changed it so windows key is shortcut to desktop anyway. my needs are filled but for a delux keyboard i would have thought you wouldn't have to smudge it...

but damn i do love it... i got the brown key edition, i write reports so much faster than with my old generic keyboard.

I sent them an email about this same LED issue.

I found when I changed the bios I could "fix" it,.. but then that means that if I do have my phone plugged in for charge it will not charge.

My last keyboard also would turn off the LEDs when the computer turned off without the need for turning off my USB power when my PC shuts down.

I wonder if there is a way to turn down the brightness from the PC... perhaps make a couple of scripts, one that turns the lights on when it boots,.. and one which turns them off when it shuts down.

I sent in an email anyway asking them about it. I'll post back when I get an answer. It's a bit silly with the keyboard costing so much you would have thought something like this would not be a problem.

Oh,.. funnily enough the Bluetooth adapter which I have plugged into the top of my keyboard... that turns off when I turn the PC off.. yet the LED's on the keyboard itself don't. There is obviously some kind of message or change in power which is sent to the keyboard when it is turned off,.. as the bluetooth knows not to keep flashing and lighting up.
