Hey recently i had to replace a psu and since then the graphics card appears to be going wrong, at first the computer would not boot with it but now does and works, however, i have a function on my mouse which magnifies an area of the screen and the card seems not to like it, the screen will all go black (monitor still on) and then load after about a second, what it should show, if i do this quickly in succesion the computer will stop transmitting to the monitor and will crash, whjen it would not boot it was suggested that i up the power to the card, will that help here as i diddnt do it origionally? thanks guys:D

Hi,

Had a very similar problem after my PSU failed.

Some time after replacing I had lots of green pixels (dots) on my display and the monitor would lose signal(and go into standby mode) or the pc would lockup, when gaming, playing movies or anything remotely 3D intensive... just like you discribe.

The reason was because the card had overheated (reached ~113C) in the past and the memory on the card was damaged.

The card still worked and infact I just replaced it today with a ATI 3450, the problem has been fixed.

I'd suggest you replace the card.

If it were lack of power into the GFX card I think you would be seeing problems in any application that uses GPU a fair bit. You might try any of the benchmark progs to give it some exercise and see if it crashes. I think it's more likely the mouse/magnifier problem is driver related. Use an ATi driver removal tool to clean your system and re-install the latest drivers.

i dont want to have to have it replaced so how do i go about uninstalling the drivers?can i just update them or will it not update drivers that "dont need it"

oh also whats a reasonable max. temp for a card like this (ASUS Ati EAH4850) to run at under presure? i have thermometers which tell me roughly how hot

Sounds like a driver issue. Whats this little program called and what OS are you running

Sounds like nothing to do with your psu

cgar04 CLAIMED!

its the software that comes with the microsoft keyboard and mouse set i got for xmas called, "IntelliPoint 6.2" and im on vista 32-bit

alos it says in the device manager that i have an eah 4850 but its not its an HD 4850... have i simply fgot the driver for the wrong card installed?

im going to try update trhe driver now, can anyone tell me how to uninstall the old driver? and still be able to use the outports for the screen

update your graphics drivers too, maybe motherboard drivers too.

Failing any of that contact microsoft or trawl google for help
