Quad Channel Memory, need a special motherboard?

Hey all,

overclockers.co.uk seem to have this up at the moment for just under 190£

OCZ 8GB (4x2GB) PC2-6400C5 800MHz Quad Channel Platinum Low Latency XTC Series DDR2 (OCZ2P8008GQ)

just wondering is a specific motherboard needed for this set to run in quad channel and how will it perform in comparison to 2 sets of these

OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-6400C5 Dual Channel Vista Gold Series DDR2 (OCZ2G8004GK)

As far as I'm aware quad channel is marketing speak for four sticks.

Nope.. Corsair do a pack of 2 x 2Gb sticks that is also quad channel...

We won't even see true tri-channel memory configs til the new Intel architecture late next year.
