Hi all,

I'm just after an insight as to when we can expect a AMD Quad core processor, and ideally if it'll still be the AM2 socket?

Does anyone of you more knowlegable peeps know at all?

Just that i want to stay on the AM2 socket, without having to spend more £'s to change to another shuttle than the AM2 one i have already.

Thanks

The next issue from AMD is supposed to bring their quad cores to the table. However, guesses at when that could be (based on current press information) has the release pegged anywhere between July and October.

As far as I'm aware, they will probably have some working on the AM2 socket, although the higher power hardware will drop into their new Socket F (1207).

 More bloomin expense then lol, just hope they bring some decent high spec chips to the AM2 socket.

The new AMD phenom cpus are to be released on AM2+. This will work in AM2 boards but without better power management. I've heard that AM3 cpus will also work in AM2 motherboards. So your board should last a while.

I think socket F is only for server cpus.

That's great news then, i'd be happy with that if my board will last longer in that respect.

:)
