Quad-core cpu dilemma

its landed on my desk to sort out looking for a new server for work. An off-site support company has recommended getting a server that contains the intel xeon E5320 (socket 771). What difference do these have over the normal quad's (q6***) cpu's. Are they really worth it.

any knowledge on these chips would be most helpful.
