I just received 2x Quads and plan on upgrading two E6600's. I'm running Ubuntu 7.04 64-bit Native Installs and the FAH smp client via Finstall. Eah machine is already running 4x threads of the client / core.

Do I need to do anything special with the Finstall / client.cfg or can I just swap the CPU and run and continue on?

you need 2x VMware's as each only uses 2 cores. or winsmp
Sorry, should have clarified a bit more, these Quads are going onto Single socket MB's and are Native Linux 64-bit Installs.

My VMware installation is on my E6800 ==> WinDoze Base O/S, VMware 5.5., Virtual Ubuntu 7.04.

You shouldn't need to do anything, instead of splitting the four threads across two cores it will just split them across 4 cores. :)

I tried it on both Ubuntu and WinSMP and didn't change a thing, just pop the new processor in and it'll just get on with it, but faster :)

That's the answer I was looking for :D as I'm a lazy bugger when it comes to re-working things !!

You also have the option of installing an extra client or two now you have Quads. RAM permitting.

Heheheheh ... already in the master upgrade plan ... need a couple of boxes though, have all the other piece parts.
