Hey all,
Building a new rig within the next couple of months and I'm plagued by thoughts of Dual or Quad...
What are peoples opinions as I have seen pretty much arguments for both. Mostly I use my rig for gaming, and running macromedia, photoshop and the like.
I am aiming at the striker extreme and ddr2 pc8500 for extra info.
If I was to buy dual i'd likely go for the X6800 2.93.
Good choice or waste of mola? Anything better suited?
As for quad core, well I dont know anything more than they are expensive:P
Thanks

Hmm hadnt even considered the Xeons.
Ok if i'm happy to spend UP to £400 would the above recommended cpu be best for the money?
If not what would be...opinions welcome!
Thanks
Mark

All I need to get is the CPU, ram and mobo, everything else is in place.
Happy to see up to £400 on the cpu.
I'd pay up to 200 for the mobo thus the reason I am aiming at the striker and ram I want 2 gig of but ideally cant see myself spending over 150.
Thats what I have to work with
£750 for the three items.
Thanks
Mark

Currently running a Geforce 7900 GTO, will upgrade this to a 8800 GTX in not too long but first I want to get the other bits in and paid for. :)
Two 80 gig WD HDDs, dont need the storage space as I use my server to store. One hdd for the OS and one for watever games im playing.
And a Hiper HPU-4M580 Type R 580W.
So whats the what with the CPU.
