Running 2 instances of win SMP both from different folders on my pc (different drives as it happens) Quad @ 3.15ghz

Should i set them up with different machine i.d's when running the install bat file?? I just set them up as machine 1 on both

I dumped 2 WU's earlier today but only 1 seems to have shown up??

Stanford is also only showning 1 cpu??

From what I understand, if a machine ID asks for a new WU without attempting to upload its last WU, the old WU is allocated to someone else and you won't get any credit for it.

ie- if two clients have the same ID, then the WU that the first one downloads is automatically reallocated to someone else as soon as the second client asks for its WU.

If that makes sense :/

Tho that might be nonsense :D

bugger - will redo now!

edit - done - deleted config file and set up as machine 1 and machine 2 - carried on with WU also. Lost only one WU then before i realised!!

Thanks Cob
Alternatively, if you need to modify a config in the future, you can create a 'configonly' shortcut like we do for the standard client.

Probably but there's no benefit to running more than two SMP clients under Windows. Linux, native or under under VMWare, is another matter.

well it's running two instances but will keep an eye on it. just under 3k per day it's predicting - would have thought it would be a bit more since my E6600 did approx 1700 a day at the same speed

Yup - and my quad runs hotter with 1 WinSMP client than it does with two VMWare-based clients.

Is there a major difference performance/points wise between an SMP and VMWare-based clients? I'm interested in getting a quad in the future and I'm a bit confused :/

hmm- dumped 2 x 1760 pointers about 3am this morning but only one showing up again. I have both win smp's running machine 1 and machine 2 id.

Stanford is now showing 2 cpu's running but the stats only show 1 WU dumped. Maybe cause i continued with the WU @ 10% and changed the config file at that stage??

A WU usually stores machine ID and other info when you download it, so if you changed the Machine ID after the WU started it will still have the old info.
