Quad core ?

I have 4 VMs on my comp usually run maybe 1 or 2 on top of the base o/s at a time, would a quad core be utilised if I upgraded from an e6600 ?

mobo limited or OS limited? if its the OS your key shall work with a 64-bit disk, so you could source one from torrent or borrow from a friend

Quad core turned up yesterday but i'm away till Friday so wont know the difference until then. Can't do a direct compare as the dual core has already been sold.
