Quad LNB - difficult to install?

I've just moved into a house where the previous owners obviously had $ky at some point. I've got no intention of getting $ky, but thought a Freesat HD Recorder might be a good alternative (more choice compared to Freeview, especially with HD?).

Currently, the old satellite dish only has one cable run from it, but from reading around, I think I need two cables to take advantage of PVR functions? Is it easy to (DIY) change the LNB / cabling on the dish (I'm assuming it isn't currently a Quad-LNB, no idea how old it is)? What do I need?

Thanks.

Fairly easy, if it's a minidish type fitting then make sure you get a minidish LNB mount adaptor (or a quad lnb designed for this dish type).

Otherwise it should be a standard bracket.

I've done this in the past, just bought a quad-LNB from ebay, marked the position of the old one just in case, and fitted the new one in the same position, then ran a shotgun cable down to 2 rooms and it was perfect :)

Freesat has many more channels but it is missing a few that feature on Freeview (Dave, 4Music, Challenge, Home, Really, PickTV, Quest, VIVA and Yesterday). Ideally you'd have access to both.

The image quality is almost always better on Freesat due to the higher bit rates used (and in some cases, higher resolution too). This is especially true of the +1 channels.
