Hi All,

I've got a freind who's after a quad monitor setup. He does a bit of trading as well as things like after effects.

Can I just fit a pair of graphics cards that each support 2 x monitors? He doesn't need SLI or Crossfire as he doesn't game.

Thanks for the advice.

Yes, you can fit a pair of graphic cards that each support 2 monitors. Best pick two graphic cards from the same family (AMD/NVidia) to avoid driver problems.

You can also get 6x00 which support 4 monitors from a single card, but that's probably too costly for his needs.

One of the cheapest option (assuming he has a motherboard with two main PCI-E ports) is to buy a pair of low-end graphics cards (like this silent £24 HD 5450) and run them independently (non-CF) each driving two monitors.

If he would rather do it from a single graphics card, then a card like this would be his best bet (though he would need two £20 active DP to DVI adapters if he isn't using Displayport (DP)-capable monitors).

If he is using DP-capable monitors and would prefer a smaller card then this one would also do the job.
