about to upgrade
why should i buy the quad 2.4 over the 1333 C2D 3.0?
should i wait for 45nm?
also should i wait for the ddr3 ram to come down, thus altering my board selection.

please advise

valerian for a start, sort your sig out mate.

Vista64-*****?

Just becuase it dosent work for you, theirs plenty of other people using it and are very happy with it.
hmmmm, ok for you mate
can you answer any of the questions?

ok
the question may have been asked many times but,
the issue is the software availability, also the other factors which you didnt comment on
also the heat is a biggy,
and most of the latest C2Ds have only recently appeared
also the 45nm issue
i have been stung so many times with 'latest' stuff only to see the next gen come out soon after, just trying to get an educated balance (i wont even ask about graphics cards)
e.g. ddr2 when it first came out £276 for a gig
pentium d 840 £399
i could go on all day

maybe we can concentrate on answering questions rather than worrying about why weve asked them, that is why we have these forums ,
is'nt it?

i accept that waiting for new technology is foolish- because by definition you would always be waiting
the 45nm issue, will the next gen quad cores run cooler.
the quandry i have is
1333 cpu
1333 board
do i need 1333 ram?
will we ever have any games which utilise 4 cores, bearing in mind still no dx10 games after how long?

the biggest leap i have seen in real time situations is this C2D, from a pd840.
far more than this x1900xtx512, from the last x850xt256.
i seek advice from you guys, and from all of you, not just one
to make the best decision at the time
with regard to old posts, yes they are useful, however the technology is ever evolving and has a shelf life, therefore so do the opinions on it-surely

Indeed!

whats the point?

I have been running my 6400 @ 3.8ghz for ages!

4 ghz 6850 is so boring.

Quad for the win :D
ok
i'll get a quad 2.4
new board
still use 4gb ddr2-800 if i put vista 64 on it, and either get a 8800gts oc 640 or wait for something better value
