Hi guys,
Hope you can help.
Just helped build a friends new system - pretty much top spec:
Core 2 Quad Q6600 (Unefficient one)
OCUK 8800GTX
4GB Geil DDR2 6400 (Only 1GB installed for testing)
500GB Hitachi SATA HDD
Thermalright CPU cooler (great big thing plus 120mm fan.)
EVGA Nvidia 650i Mobo
Enermax 620W modular PSU
Lian Li PC7
On power on, it will not POST and the monitor (Cibox) says (no input signal found)
My initial thoughts is that it is either the motherboard of gfx card as it wont post. The motherboard lights come on, gfx card fan starts up, and PSU fan starts on power on - just no POST. Other fans come on but NOT fans which are connected to the motherboard. When they are connected to molex instead via adapter, they work fine.
Am I right in thinking that it shouldnt be a motherboard short as the system would power off if that were the case?
Also, is the PSU adequate?
Is it safe to eliminate the CPU and mem at this stage?
Plans tomorrow are to try with my GFX card, test the rig outside of the case, and buy a new motherboard from PC world (temporarily) to try to eliminate the motherboard from the equation.
Thoughts, comments and suggestions (not to mention answers to my questions!) would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks guys.
