Hi Guys,

I've been running my system at stock for a few weeks now...and would like to overclock it a little...is it best doing so with the unlocked multiplier ? only i can't seem to find anywhere to change it in the bios....( Asus Commando )

Also what vcore voltage should i set it at? because i've just left it set to auto .

System specs

Intel Core 2 Quadro Extreme Edition QX6700 "LGA775 Kentsfield @2.66GHz
Asus Commando Intel 965 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
2gb Team Xtream Ram @ 4/4/4/10
EVGA GeForce 8800 GTX KO ACS3 SILENT 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI graphics card
Enermax 1000w galaxy psu
Titan Amanda tec / heatsink
Xfi extreme gamer sound card
Akasa Mirage 62 case / Scythe S-FLEX 1600RPM Ultra Quiet 120mm Fans - 3/4 pin
Samsung dvd re writer
Western Digital Raptor X 150gb

Any Help appreciated.

try and up the FSB speed as much as you can to feed that cpu, minimum 1333fsb (should be easy if not more), then find out the default voltage of the cpu, set it at that in bios and clock it up 100mhz each time (if being careful) to see how high it will go on default volts.

Then increase volts very slightly and see how far that takes you, you have a good heatsink so it should be -ok-, but with a quad I wouldnt go much at all over 1.41-1.45volts without water (maybe less im not sure)

Hi mate thanks for the reply :-) ok i've found out how to change the multiplier in the bios...and have set it to 12x which is running at 3.2 ...going to leave the vcore set to auto to find out if it's stable or not, how do i stress all four cores? runnign orthos and it only allows the two.

Try downloading "speedfan" and Prime95. I'm testing at the moment and it appears to be stressing all four cores. Speedfan will allow you to see the four cores being stressed and keep an eye on your temps!

Auto in the Bios voltages is usually much higher than you need on the Commando. On mine Auto selects a VCore of 1.7v at 400x9!
