Quadro FX3700, Low power warning

Hi all,

Just rigged up my new machine and all in all it seems to be going well:

2 x Xeon E5345

Tyan i5400XT

Quadro fx3700

Enermax Galaxy 1000W

I am however getting a low power warning from NVIDIA sentinel, which says it will limit functionality and this happens everytime i boot up.

I think I have tried every arrangement of cable connection and card position possible to no avail.

Have also updated my bios to latest release.

Any help would be much appreciated!

How strange... I have built lots of machines with that board (S5396A2NRF) the higher spec processors (X5460's) and dual cards and power hungry cards (FX5600, V8600) and never had any power problems... Used mainly the Enermax 1000w or the 1200w Dual PSU in the P190.

Something i will say is that if you are using the top PCI-E Slot you must have the 4Pin 12v ATX power connector AND the molex plug connected at the top of the board.

Hi Skyline,

Yeah its annoying alright, just hope im not gonna damage the card running it like that until I get a solution.

Tryed the top pci e port with the 4 pin power plug and the other slot with and without (Just to try everything!) but with no joy.

The power hungry cards have got an extra power plug havnt they?

Thanks Raider, but tryed that.

It appears the problem is worse than i thought too, in that I have to clear the CMOS by moving the jumper on the motherboard if the machine has been shut down for any period of time, so in effect every time I boot up. I have to do this in order to get out of black screen.

Any help is greatly appreciated as this is something i cant live with.

Cheers!

Isn't this similar to the 'bug' that the Antec Quattro 805W/1000W suffered from? whereby it was too 'underpowered' for an 8800GT if I remember correctly.

Could be a fault with your Enermax unit.

Thanks for the reply Chimerical.

You think that would explain the black screen startups too?

To be honest if its the power supply that would be good news for me as its much easier to replace as I made that order locally.
