Quadro & Gaming card, possible?

Yep works fine.. I have a QuadroFX and a 280gtx in the same system no problems.

As to why anyone would want too.
Some applications only run on Quadro's or need them to activate specialist functions/drivers for stability CAD etc. Other apps perform better with gaming cards, such as games :)

You can also have 4 monitors.

You cant mix and match quadro + ati though.

My first question would be why?

I use a few apps that are more efficient using a Quadro but I also like to have a decent gaming card and I don't want to splash out on 2 high end systems.

ahh , that's a shame as I fancied the new 5800 series and an FX580

why can't they be mixed?

I don't see why you couldn't mix a quadro and an ATi card.

At least in windows 7, it'll let you run multiple and different graphics drivers at the same time.

1 Samsung 22" 2233rz (120hz) (best display for gaming / 3d work)
2 regular 22" screens (wish to upgrade these at some point)
+ TV or a 12" lcd.

I would be cautious of mixing ati and nvidia still, as it's not the OS that will be the issue, the drivers may not get along. Nv and ati have a history of playing silly beggers with each other. I did a quick google, although you may get the display adapters working in win7, other components such as control panels & additional drivers are likely not to work.

I'd look further into it before spending lots on something that may either make your workstation unstable or not work as desired.

Ofc..It's entirely possible that it may all work smoothly.

Yeah I will do a bit of research first

Do you know if it's possible to use one monitor?
